Coe (Coeta) Lavon Romine Savage grew up in central Oklahoma and started to draw and paint as a child. She wanted, so much, to express what she felt and was most familiar with at the time. A vivid imagination and joy of living allowed her to commune and play with fairies and nature spirits in the rural countryside and among the flowers in her mother's garden. This was phase one in the development of an artist.
She studied art at Oklahoma City University and graduated from the University of Hawaii, in Honolulu, with a degree in Education and Art. She took classes in Old Masters Technique and studied the freer style of the impressionists while living in Europe. She returned to the U.S. to study the psychology of Carl Jung and Jungian Astrology at the Jung Institute in Houston, Texas. Learning more about the inner self and the archetypes opened a new dimension in understanding.
Coe has developed a painting style reflective of these phases brought together: the mysticism of the Angel, fairy, and nature spirit kingdom with the vivid colors of Hawaii in the florals. Many of the paintings show the interactions of the archetypes with each other, therefore changing our concept of reality. More recent studies of the shapes and colors of Sacred Geometry (Light Language) have added a new dimension to her paintings. She combines these shapes and colors in a painting to bring about a specific resulting energy change. Many paintings are directed toward renewed health and prosperity energies.
Coe says, "I now know, from years of study and experience, that paintings hold energy. The artist directs the energy and is the conduit through which the energy flows, very much like the director of an orchestra. If the artist is willing to allow the higher, positive energies to come from Spiritual source, they can produce energy patterns that have the power to bring about positive change in the viewers."
Coe teaches yoga, painting, and workshops on self awareness - sometimes combining all three. She teaches that art is a tool for self revelation (art therapy). She has won many awards and her paintings are in collections in Europe, Asia, South America, Mexico and the U.S. Coe also does Art Club demonstrations and speaks before interested groups. Prints and greeting cards have been made from her paintings.
